I'm on record as being an outlier when it came to BSG.
I thought some of it was laughably stupid both superficially ("Starbuck! Where you at!?") and overall.
But most of my objection was that that I didn't think what they chose to focus on thematically was interesting. Some of it has been done since the beginning of Sci-Fi and I was bored senseless with the War on Terror allegory.
I'll admit that most of it was well done...I just didn't care for what they chose to present. I don't have an alternative but I was hoping for something different.
I give them credit for a well crafted series, even when I thought they made huge missteps, but it never interested me much.
The ending, however, was whiz-bang.
