They only give fragments... but there's plenty of stuff happening.

If someone asks you to tell the story of The Girlfriend Experience there's plenty to tell.
You have the story of Chelsea and Chris relationship.
You have the story of the website guy/Tara.
You have the story of her relationship with Tim.
You have the plot of Chris looking to branch out his business during tough economic times.
The only bit that bothered me was the trip to Vegas because I was never really sure who those guys were and why exactly they wanted their trainer to go along.
You can write out quite a bit that happens in the movie, it's just not presented in an exactly classical narrative format. There's a lot of plot here.
If really nothing happened, that wouldn't necessarily preclude me from liking it because I have liked plenty of movies where really nothing happens, but that's not the case here. If you want to see a movie where really nothing happens, I can recommend some for you.
