this, posted on our Nextdoor, is kinda cute

19 year old playdate? My son is losing his mind LOL! (and will be MORTIFIED that I posted this here!). Hello everyone!

We moved back here this summer from Florida after several years and my college student son came with...

He is losing his mind with boredom, because apparently hanging out with your parents isn't the coolest way to spend your summer... (he has NO idea how cool we truly are, nor will he probably ever, LOL!!)

On top of it all, we are HYPER vigilant about social distancing, hand sanitizer, and masks because in our house we have 3 high risk individuals... My son NOT being one of them... And he can't get a job or volunteer anywhere because of that. So he's stuck with boring ole us...

Basically he's missing human interactions with people other than his folks & grandma... (Can't say that I blame him!)

Does anyone else have a college student here in the area that is just as bored?

We have a big side yard on our corner lot and are going to set up a couple of the 10x10 soccer mom tents so the kids can hang out outside and complain about their parents not letting them do anything... Or whatever it is they do.

We don't allow smoking or drinking and the tents will be close to the streets so other parents can drive by and check up on their kids or drop them off, etc. All hanging out will be outside in the yard. We can set up badminton, crouquet, soccer balls, canz, and other touchless yard games. (Feel free to bring over horseshoes, corn hole, etc...) No frisbee or football tossing... (Did I mention we are hyper vigilant?) I'm sure our kids will think it's all lame, but we're in a pandemic, and it's all we got right now.

We'd ask that your kid(s) bring their own pop up chair, snacks, drinks so that we minimize possible contamination... Also, please makes sure they use the restrooms before they come or can run home if they have to use them.

Anyone interested in setting up a big, boy college student play date? (He's going to KILL me!! LOL)

A little bit about my son, he has a full academic scholarship to University of Florida (go Gators!) and is taking online courses here through December. (We are reassessing whether he'll go back in January or not because of the pandemic.)

He's pretty social and leans to the left when it comes to politics (us parents are true moderates.)

I know this is a shot in the dark and most kids around here probably have high school friends they grew up with so they don't need a new friend, but you just never know who may be in the same boat as my son!! So here we are.

(Maybe someone can develop an app for meeting friends during a pandemic!! Take it and run with it web developers! That's my free-to-you-million-dollar-idea for the day!)

I haven't had to "mom" in so long that this whole post is making me giggle... So thank you for your good humor while I try to do what I did 15+ years ago, setting up playdates for my son!! LOL

Let me know if we can connect our kids!
