I can't think of one. I would think it would be a generally bad idea as I've seen some email validators get pissed about the "." style you can use

Yeah. I'm trying to find a way to end to end test a fix for not being able to email an address with a "-" in it. True E2E test would be to receive it. -- nm

always thought there was a problem with using hyphens as it is also a math operative, that's why under_scores are used -- nm
