Correct. That's the issue here. People that are upset with him thought the game was well in hand so he shouldn't be looking to swing away

I disagree that the game was well in hand as I've seen teams score a lot of runs in an inning to comeback and tie or win games late.
And I'll go back to my early argument, they get paid off the stats they put in the books. If that's the case then they have every incentive to try their best at all times. And with the count 3-0 with bases loaded you can expect to get a fat pitch over the plate. He might not see a better pitch this week. You gotta take advantage when you can especially when it means more money for you and your family.
