I once caught a fox kit on the farm (it's not such a happy story though)

the den was in our shelterbelt (treed/brush area around a farm yard, look it up) but the mom got killed by something (car, coyote, we were never sure) and the kits were too young to fend for themselves. Tried to feed it long enough for it to survive on its own but it didn't figure it out.

I also caught a sparrowhawk fledgling once too, but that story had a better ending (fed it worms from the compost for a few days until it could get away on its own).
