He'll do the right thing, rather than trying to protect his popularity for a second term. He'll face a tight primary race against Sen. Clinton who will win the nomination this time. Pres. Clinton will serve two terms, while Pres. Obama is elected for three terms as the most popular Governor of Illinois that anyone can remember.
