It’s a tough call. I’m not one for over-punishment. But a 12 year old ought to know what showing off even a toy gun might do in a school setting.

Even if that is a new school setting that what people are used to.
So, yeah, there is room for lots of different outcomes to this. But I think all of them would need to include some level of discipline.
