The fact that Jackson and Doc knew months ago and didn’t announce anything suggests there’s been negotiations going on.

And the fact that they’ve announced today that they were canceled suggests that negotiations had broken down.

Evidently, Adult Swim thinks there’s still some wiggle room or perhaps the vitriol they’ve received has brought them back to the negotiation table.

Although given the short run and every season and the rather sparse animation, I can’t imagine the cost of producing the Venture Bros. was all that considerable. Maybe Jackson and Doc are just looking for a payday that Adult Swim isn’t willing to pay out. But in the current age of COVID, animation is a lot easier to do than live action. Adult Swim should think twice.
