The day after Earnhardt died in 2001, the Washington Post has an article on the front page about Bush planning to take care of Saddam. It wasn’t because of 9/11 because Bush was President for a month at the point and9/11 was 7 months away.

Iraq was a terribly conceived and executed war but it wasn’t against Islam. Hussein hates Islam about as much as anyone because he couldn’t control faith; lest people get ideas about overthrowing him. He cared about Islam like Trump cares about Christianity.

We cared about Hussein being an evil man. Iraq was always going to happen for Bush. He wanted it too much.
