One or two games isn't enough in baseball to decide which team is better. You can't play a home and home and call it a series.

It may be fine in some other sports but that's not baseball and not how we decide which team is better.
Pitchers matter and if baseball was treated like soccer with all those off days you wouldn't need five starters as guys would get plenty of rest between starts. You'd basically see two maybe three guys per team. It would change the game in dramatic ways.
Baseball isn't like those other sports in so many ways and shortening the season would change so much about how the games are played to who plays and so on.
