I've owned a wok since the Summer of my second year of college (1981) - this seems crazy to me that I never encountered it. Sure ... I'd heard of corn starch ... but never to mix it ahead of time and add things to it - other than water to make it a "slurry" to thicken something - and even then it was usually for sauces, not stir fry.
