I save my gold for drafts. Earn packs by winning drafts or whenever I get them via Mastery Pass. You can craft anything you want at any time.

I haven’t decided if I’m getting the pay level of Mastery Pass. I did for M21 and didn’t play enough to break even.
Of course, this is using gems I don’t use money for but also earn through drafts or events.
