A long explanation of what I know about that Melania book and the supporting tapes

Trish always goes on about "oh, we're watching your girlfriend tonight". So I have told her I have only on TV girlfriend and she is a lesbian. I do watch a lot of Rachel Maddow
Rachel Maddow had on this woman who wrote this book and, as support for this book, secretly taped phone calls with her former friend, Melania Trump. I was interested because Rachel doesn't usually go in for the gossipy stuff. She can get distracted by things but those usually have either taxes or Russians involved.
This woman was a long term friend of Melania Trump. She was one of those rich New York women into fashion and worked as a high end party planner. You know, the type of woman you'd expect Melania to be friends with.
Then 2016 happened and Melania became FLOTUS. She and her friend did things like "Operation Block Ivanka" which was a plot between the two of them to make sure Ivanka didn't get in the inauguration photo. I sort of like some gossip and I was like "ooooh, I wonder why Melania doesn't like Ivanka"
But what Maddow had seized on was this book is the first by an insider to address part of what happened with the inauguration. As you recall, Obama in 2008 had the largest inauguration ever, with folks like Springsteen, Beyonce, and Bono performing and people everywhere. Obama received $100 million in donations for the inauguration, unheard of for that time.
In 2016, Trump received $200 million in donations. But it was sparsely attended compared to Obama's inauguration. The celebrations were quite lower key than Obama's, instead of Springsteen, Beyonce, and Bono, they got 3 Doors Down. They didn't even have A=list Nashville talent. Soon people started asking "Where did $200 million go?"
Melania's friend was hired to plan out parts of the inauguration. She spent over $20 million and has receipts for it all. But as the inquiry grew into the $200 million, it became clear they needed a scapegoat and they chose her.
When it became clear to this woman that Melania was planning to stab her in the back to help her husband, she started taping Melania.
Her books has details about the inauguration, audit, and investigation that hadn't been really made public before. That is why Rachel Maddow chose to feature it. The investigation ultimately cleared this woman, but had no answer to where the money went.
So now this woman wrote this book about her former friend Most everyone, including CNN, is getting caught up in the gossipy stuff, like the Christmas decorations.
But not me, I am laser focused. I am all: "Someone embezzled up to nine digits of money and.......ooooo, I wonder what is between Melania and Ivanka?"
