So Khamenei throws in his lot with Ahmadinejad. That pretty much guarantees his ouster.

The protests would have ended had Ahmadinejad simply been replaced - by another election, or a simple "recount" - by Mousavi. Now, the Supreme Leader has sided with the thieves and cheaters. That makes him a target for protests.
