Springsteen used to play the Sports Arena for 4-5 nights in a row when he lived here. I couldn't get tickets to all of them, but there's a thing in LA

where there is always a huge guest list of famous people, who never want to pay for anything, record company people and just all around beautiful people. Many of them don't show up. If they aren't there by the third song, they sell their seats at the box office. My friend and I would buy tickets to the first and last nights when they went on sale and then go there in the afternoon of the other shows and sit for a few hours to try and buy them. You never knew how many would become available so you didn't know if you'd get in. One afternoon/evening we were waiting and Bob Seger walked by with his girlfriend to pick up his tickets. Many others did not and so we bought tickets. They were great, right next to the sidestage/backstage where the important people hang out. Right after we sat down, a couple stumbled into the seats next to us. It was Eddie and Valerie, with a bottle of apricot brandy that they seemed to have been sampling for quite awhile. Eddie's leg was up against mine and they both looked great. I was having trouble concentrating on Bruce. Eddie held out his bottle to us, but we declined. He gave us that goofy grin. We were kicking ourselves and trying not to stare. After about an hour, they got up and stumbled away, dropping their backstage passes as they went. We wanted to pick them up and use them, but their names and pictures were on them and we didn't think we could pass, as we were 2 girls. That was my only brush with Eddie, although I went to so many shows. Dave, Sammy, US Festival, the Dave and Sammy tour.
