I can accept the violence in The Boys but something that really annoys me is the jump in volume from whisper scenes to explosions or yelling.

I'm not sitting in a theater. I have neighbors and even if I didn't I don't like having to reach for the mute to save my hearing because I had to crank up the volume a moment ago to hear the dialogue.
