I was just discussing with Kim the fact that Nick Saban is what undid Fulmer.

If Rohan Davies doesn't get hurt in 2001, Saban never would have switched offensive designs in the second quarter. Once a dental student named Matt Mauck came in, Saban did something few coaches would have the guts to do and dumped his entire gameplan to play to Mauck's strengths as a scrambling QB. We are in the national championship game again if Saban doesn't do that and our recruiting would have been better the next few years, too. We were the second choice of 23 5-star recruits from 2002-2005. Just winning half of those changes things dramatically for Fulmer's last few years. It's a strange vocation.
