I separate U2 into the same type of groups with a massive divide, like Metallica.

Boy, October, War, and The Unforgettable Fire are all great. The Joshua Tree was just blah, and everything after (although I do like Zooropa quite a bit, just because how different it was).
Same with Metallica. First 3 albums (and EP) were great. Black album and on: just shit.
