I’m not convinced his “give a man enough rope to hang himself with” approach to comedy really works the way he thinks it does. -- (edited)

Culture isn’t self-regulating like that as much anymore, if it ever really was — there are too many avenues available these days to reinforce those ideas instead. His observations on the state of the world are spot on though.
