I keep thinking a show about insurance would be endlessly fun to write - and then I realize - I am an insurance nerd.

no body else would find interest in how we get things covered for our clients ... but the puzzle can be very real and totally tap into your creativity in tearing apart what is basically contract law and proving they have to pay
This - understand - is from me as an "agent" - not an employee of the company. Obviously, their adjusters hate it when we know their contracts better than they know them. But employee turnover at the company is much higher than at an agency, so we have a deeper bench when it comes to knowing coverage.
I never realized how solid our reputation was at our companies until I heard one of them say ... oh - if you got a claim faxed by that agent, 99% sure we owe on it - they don't send them unless they know it's covered.
Oddly enough - other agents often make the company deny it - so that they aren't the "bad guy" - which the companies of course LOATHE - and because we don't play that game, they kind of give us better service and respect. The real benefit though is - our client knows us - and if something isn't covered - it's much better to hear it from us - who they know and trust - than from a stranger at the company.
I still shake my head at the low bar some of my peers set in this business.
OK - insurance nerd out!
