Now in the winter time I do usually keep an extra bag in the car with snacks, clothes, etc just in case.

We don't get much snow, but we get a lot of ice usually and 1/4 inch of ice in half an hour shuts down the city and roads and I've had friends get stuck in their cars for hours.
