Five Guys review

I worked in the city today that has the only Five Guys in the near vicinity. With luck, the burger place was a minute down the road from the CVS, and it was easy to get to, I'd met a friend for dinner at the Applebees across the street about 2.5 years ago before either the Five Guys and CVS existed

The place was packed and I was worried I'd have nowhere to sit but there was one table left. I ordered a bacon burger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, pickles and ketchup. Also got regular fries and drink. A little over $10. But I got mileage for the day (plus working was all overtime) so the splurge was worth it.

The wait was reasonable enough. I opened the bag and damn near burned my hand on fries trying to get the damn burger out. That was a lot of fries. And it wasn't even the large.

The burger itself was really, really good. It may not have been the BEST BURGER ZOMG EVER but that may have been due to my choice of toppings. I think I'd get it next time with just lettuce, tomatoes and ketchup. The bacon was moderately disappointing and the onions actually made it way too messy.

Burger: A-
Fries: A+ (anything fried in peanut oil wins everything)
Value: B
Overall: A

Drive distance: 80 miles round trip with $2.40 in tolls. The drive home took 50 minutes but that was probably due to pouring rain for 3/4ths of the trip. I think my drive in took probably 40 minutes or so at the most because once I'm on the Thruway I could do 70. It's in the middle of a huge commercial area so I could definitely make excuses to head out there again in the future.
