divide now. Not an ideas divide. That polling on issues was just insane relative to Trump and republicans doing this well. A significant portion of the country has come to believe that the rest of us look down on them (notwithstanding that we're trying to make policies that will help them). They're angry and feeling like they're losing ground to minorities and immigrants. The FNCU and Trump feed the anger with whatever they can think of and they have no outside perspective. It's more important to stick it to the other side than get actual help. The republicans have truly created a cult in every sense of the word and that's very hard to break.
