It doesn't matter what the practicality is. If those urban centers are predominantly democratic, it will *feel* to the rest of the US that their

opinions are ignored. I 100% agree that a popular election works on a variety of levels, I just don't think that it does anything to fix the partisan nature of the US and I think it likely will make it worse.
