i'm really bummed that richmond protesters are so jaded and bitter right now they idea of something like this is just not even possible.

we tried on Wednesday, it got huge pushback... basically they feel like if we're not fighting cops, why are we out.
every organizer was saying "fuck this" because the mayor won re-election, council didn't change as much as they wanted, etc. good things are happening though.
i think it's part of the curse of being young and super idealistic.. i met a woman who was poll watching that moved to richmond in 1979 and started the hard work that ended with VA flipping blue a few years back. she said the same... it's hard work, it takes a long time. it's unrealistic to expect things to change in one election. this summer of protesting was a start to a long long journey. take the wins, enjoy them, be inspired to get another one when the time is right.
