maybe? I think the plan has always been discourage mail/early voting, hopefully get an early lead, then cast doubt on the 'come from behind'

that's really a function of (almost entirely Republican) states not allowing early votes to be counted until later. they knew how many early ballots there were and probably how they'd break, so they built a story around that.
