Hey, Mop, that Ken Kesey was pretty good. I recommend it if you don't mind a bit of a challenge.

It's long -- my copy is over 600 pages -- and he has a habit of switching narrators when you're not paying attention, but there's a solid drama within.

I just saw there was a movie adaptation back in the 70s starring and directed by Paul Newman.
