Starkville followed up a 2 point loss to one of its conference rivals last week with an 11 point win yesterday. Today its the other conference rival who beat us by 31 a week ago. Cracking the top-100 rankings and making the 2nd tier postseason tourney is a legit goal this cycle.
Buffalo plays the best team in its conference which will be a good test of where they are currently. Previous losing margins of 28, 46, and 17 suggest a reasonable goal of keeping it within 10ish points today. Piranha on the cusp of moving up a postseason tournament to the 3rd tier but will likely need 2 wins in the conference tourney to do so. Could solidify itself as the clear 5th best team in conference.
Hartford has already seen a big improvement in the rankings from ~200 to ~130ish thanks to a great recruiting cycle but is only the 6th best team in a tough division. Unfortunately they play the #2 team in the country, currently undefeated and victors last week over the TJ Patriots by 12. With this game and then conference tourney games left, the tea leaves say an appearance in the 2nd tier postseason tourney instead of the 3rd tier would be a huge accomplishment, but don't bet it.
Despite a top 100 recruiting class Strongbad inherited the weakest franchise and sits at #256/256 in the nation right now. Strong play from the Ramblin Wreck can only move them up, regardless of additional Ls. 4 wins in the next 10 games, many of which will be competition-adjusted matchups in loser's brackets of the conference and lowest tier post season tourney, would represent progress over last season and is the goal.
Good luck to all!
