I had an idea last night that made me feel stupid for not having it a decade ago. More than a decade, actually.

I have monthly recurring visa payments. I have a ballpark idea of what they'll be every month. I have the luxury of being able to afford them. So ... I should just sum them up and add an automated payment from my bank. DUH.
Then the only time I need to pay down my visa is from the non-recurring charges.
(I've just been manually sorting it out until now...)

Eh, I have to make a payment anyway, might as well pay it all at once instead of having to do the math. -- nm

I took cranks advice and have my bills paid a month ahead, -- nm

A decade or so ago I did this. All utilities, insurance, HOA payments and CCs. It is great. My CCs push to my mobile so I monitor there. -- nm

I have it set to make the minimum monthly payment automatically but that's only in case I forget to pay it. Normally I pay it off in full every month. -- nm
