not sure who else is reddit users, but i've noticed even my local city sub has become so alt-right reactionary - there's a constant backlash -- (edited)

on anything that even looks like criticism of conservatism. it changed drastically toward the rigth just right as protests started, but i noticed it across a few subs i moderate that the alt-right people of t_d started spreading to every nook and cranny of the site a few years ago, plus a lot of bot activity (these are very non-political subs, just hobby/career ones). reddit has done a very poor job of deplatforming in the past and it's resulted in a site that's largely unusable.
i appreciated brie larson in a recent the hot ones interview saying that she used to like reddit, but reddit is trash now. i've felt this way for a while and it helped me make a decision about what to do.
i rarely wade into my local subreddit and when i do, it's an absolute cesspool. i've RES marked a lot of people, it's the same players over and over stirring shit up, starting fights, mods do nothing.
there's a tool called shreddit that lets you overwrite everything, keep a few things white listed. going to keep everything in the two communities i moderate (i've spent a lot of time building them, helping people.. not ready to give that up), but i think that site is pretty much done for me.
it feels a lot like facebook back in the day - you know when it's time to go.
also, instagram is probably next. then twitter.
then slackertalk.
