legislation and lobbying, prison reform, mutual aid groups, etc. their enthusiasm and "ride or die" attitude they have now serves to keep them going. you know that work burns people out, the wins are so few and far between, you have to have something to keep the fire lit. if right now saying "fuck liberals, fuck Biden" keeps them engaged in what will no doubt be incredible, impactful work, then i think we don't try to douse their enthusiasm. is it ultimately that damaging? this whole thing is about scapegoating these people for dems losing, but that's kind of like blaming the kick for missing a 50 yard field goal in the closing seconds when the offense sucked all game.
the other thing is they're all mostly very well educated people - they're not blindly going into this without an understanding of history and the political process. they know what's true and what isn't. but they've chosen to go hard on this topic. i have the utmost respect for them, i follow their lead in protest situations. i have a lot of trouble taking the view that they should compromise in this moment when they'll eventually be ground down over time.
