Spoils on several points

the books are pointing to Harry being a big bad in some form for a spell or so. Killing off the fan favorite both drew in his darkness and also cut off one of the last few portions of human-kind to him.

He's been a human wizard in a string of 16 adventures with forces that are well beyond human. There are no normals left. Waldo is a Knight, Molly is a Faerie Queen, Marcone is a Denarian...they had to get Harry's unmooring from the humans done; and between the death (at the hands of a human) and his being cast out of the White Council, he's adrift. Thomas is out of play, Justine is a meat suit.

At some point, Dark Harry is going to come out and play; there's been a lot of duality in him in several of the recent books. He's a bad man pushed to the limits...when he breaks, it's going to be substantial. We got a taste of it in the chase right after the major character death.

Even introducing the humans who know aspect, it opens up some avenues that tighten the box on him even further because he's a human gifted faerie power; but he's still walking Chicago; where people will look for him.
