I'm sad because it could have been two really good movies.

They could have doubled down on the zaniness and maybe created a holiday classic worth watching every year.

Or they could have gone all in on the seriousness and made a great movie that maybe even wins awards, but I probably wouldn't want to see more than once.

Honestly, "Palm Springs" managed to balance the funny with the serious. I don't know why this one doesn't work. I guess even the funniest movies have a "OK, look, let's get serious for a moment" scene. "Happiest Season" just doesn't know what it wants to be.
