INTERPROMOTIONAL MATCH TO HEADLINE IMPACT WRESTLING HARD TO KILL 2021 PPV
by Mike Johnson @ 10:17 PM on 12/15/2020
AEW Champion Kenny Omega & Impact Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers vs. Impact Wrestling Champion Rich Swann & The Motor City Machine Guns will headline the 1/16/21 Impact Wrestling Hard to Kill PPV, it was announced at the end of Impact on AXS.
After several weeks of Omega riling up old Bullet Club cohort Karl Anderson to bring back the wrestler he was when he was in the Club and New Japan Pro Wrestling, Anderson cheated to beat Chris Sabin in the main event of Impact on AXS. Impact Champion Rich Swann confronted him over cheating, leading to Anderson striking him. Sabin and Alex Shelley went to intercede but the returning Doc Gallows (said to have been injured in recent weeks but actually filming an acting gig) laid them out.
Kenny Omega, who earlier in the show, was offended by Swann getting involved in his business, exited his bus and attacked Swann, beating him over the head with a plastic sign. He then issued a challenge for a six man tag, with Impact Wrestling official Don Callis, already rooted as Omega's advisor, making that match official for the PPV.
The match will be Omega's in-ring debut for Impact and the next step in the recent AEW-Impact alliance, which also continued this week with AEW President Tony Khan and lead AEW announcer Tony Schiavone knocking Impact during a "paid ad" promoting the lineup for tomorrow's AEW Dynamite on TNT broadcast.
