crowd report: VOTER definitely a long in my precinct.

because I proctor at 8:30 and until 6:00 p.m., I got up at 6 a.m. today to ensure that I'd have time to vote -- just in case something went wonk with my proctoring.
I arrived at my polling place at 6:45. there were about 50 people there. it was literally 90 degrees in the church and tempers were *en fuego* as we waited for (yes, diva) two elderly women to check our IDs (we have in PA one dude checking the big book, and two women keeping just a list of names) and issue our (scantron! AH! not even the SAT uses those anymore!) ballots. a man in line was *shouting* that he didn't see why the highschooler handing out ballots wasn't checking ID rather than the elderly women. "you give my grandma a task like that and not only is it going to take her a fucking year to do, but she's gonna stroke out or something!" asshole? yes. funny? some.
anyway. I lost three pounds in water weight in the 50 minutes it took to move me through the line and got my I VOTED sticker and started to move through the lobby to exit.
except I couldn't get through the crowd. literally hundreds of people were there. you must understand, this is a college town. nobody gets up before 8:00 unless they have class. these people were either skipping class or just *up early to vote.*
I finally got out of the place and went for my free coffee ("thanks for voting!" the dude said to me. sure, no problem. I did it only for the coffee and free cookies on campus today, dude) and hotfooted it here to make it almost just in time to proctor.
*hundreds* of people. in state college. at 7:40 a.m. *hundreds.*
