We both have spent our entire lives spelling our names to people, we wanted to give our kids the gift of not doing that.
I generally don't mock things that come from a cultural background, but made up shit is fair game, imo. "DeShaun"? Whatever. "Barkevious"? Come the fuck on.
I'd say the Jedidiah people are trying way too hard to reach for something, as you say.
