Of course, Discovery+ or Paramount+ don't go anywhere unless the studios behind them collapse. Or do they...

As discussed this week in Streaming Into the Void, it may be more profitable for a studio to produce content that they license to another platform (like Netflix) than to try their hand at their own platform. But that seems unlikely. In the meantime, CBS Television, WB Television, and Sony Television continue to produce content that gets licensed to 3rd parties (in two of those cases, the parent company HAS a streaming service... why are you selling to a competitor?!) It'll all come down to the accountants. Disney has decided to have a future-looking vision where they forego near term licensing revenue for long term subscriber profit. Is it the right move? For Disney, probably. For Paramount or WarnerMedia? *shrug*
