I think they could kill the filibuster if they just stood up to people who threatened to use it, so I'd still lean toward conviction.

I'm not especially concerned about Trump running again (I think the bloom is off and he may be worn out from fighting lawsuits by then), but I want the conviction on the books for our reputation's sake and as a message to other potential megalomaniacs.
