ok, not ON broadway, it was in toronto in 1989
Phantom on the night before the gala opening. I paid $26 a ticket and the next night it was $1000. this was at the newly renovated Pantages with a then record presale for any show until phantom opened in tokyo
saw the travelling version a couple of years ago and it lacked so many of the effects built into the pantages stage, but was still enjoyable.
