if Detroit doesn't like a QB this year (and I'd say that all but Lawrence have serious questions), they don't need to draft one at all.
Goff is perfectly adequate. He did play in a Super Bowl only 2 years ago. If he's 'right', you can win a good amount with him. For Detroit, winning into the playoffs is a win. And if he's not capable of winning 10 games you're not tied to him for long.
But you just bought yourself time to take stock of the organization and build something.
The new owner there seemed quite content to start over fresh and give the new GM and Coach a runway. She knows that the churn they've had hasn't been conducive to anything long-term successful.
It's almost like stability in a franchise is a good thing. (see Pittsburgh and Baltimore and Green Bay)
