The female laid her eggsac (like a dollop of orange caulk) on the top of the tank.
The male died shortly thereafter, but did not have his head bitten off, as I had been led to expect.
The female even died a month or two afterward.
I pretty much forgot about it, but left the tank where it was and didn't disturb anything.
One morning I got up and I couldn't see inside the tank because the inner walls were *coated* with tiny, baby mantises. They seemed fully formed, but only about 1cm long and partially transparent.
A very interesting mix of cute and creepy.
