Why in the world did you get Comcast in the first place?

When you go to any of the consumer complaint websites they always have multiple complaints.
I hate cable internet too. The companies tend to overbuild the nodes, so you'll have times when using a 56k dialup would be faster. Before I moved to Seattle, I had Comcast cable and internet and hated it. Everyday when school got out, my speeds went down to 18k, for real. It blew. Plus, my cable went out all the time.
We've had directv for 8 years now and love it. We rarely have a problem, but when we do they have tech support 24/7 and the employees actually live in the US and speak English as their first language. Our internet access is DSL through the phone company, Qwest. I think when our contract is up, I'm going to change over to the Satellite high speed internet through directv, too.
If Comcast loses enough customers, they'll clean up their act. I really don't know how they bamboozle people into thinking they're the only choice.
