Fortunately, margins on consoles are slim (and sometimes negative) which is why Microsoft has 50 game development studios.

Subscription services is where the real money is at, which is why they have Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass (and why they tried to get Game Pass on the Switch and the PS5 - if the anti-trust stuff from Epic Games against Apple is successful, look for the floodgates to open). This is the last generation of consoles. "Stream to your set top" is the future.
