While my kids have totally lost the socializing with friends while at school, I find they have more free time since they’ve been learning at home.

The time lost commuting - and preparing before and after that commute - is gone. They can roll out of bed and into class in seconds. They still talk to their friends online between classes and have immeasurably more time after school to “hang” with their friends online than they did before.
It’s not all good, of course. I think people face-to-face with people has considerable benefits. And they wouldn’t have these friends in the first place if they hadn’t met at school originally.
But learning from home demonstrates just how much time was being burned up not-learning in the past. Even if you just factor the time spent moving from one classroom to another... now that’s time my kids spend doing their homework so that by the time the school day is over, they’re free to do anything else they like.
