ML...ok, so explain to me how this works then. If we trade in a "clunker" for this voucher...who do we actually give the car to?

Just looked up Kelly Blue Book on the Envoy and it's trade-in value is between $4800-$5500 depending on how the condition would be classified.
So, based on that...I'm better off just trading it at it's KBB value...yes?

also here is a mototrend mag article on this (note, they say its the combined fuel economy of the car) -- (link)

We also have a dealer in town offering up to $5000 over KBB in trade for our vehicle...

you have to take the car to a dealership, they provide you the voucher

So, let's say they would normally give me $5000 in trade for this car...the voucher program does nothing for me, yes? -- nm

no one really knows. I mean, the dealership gets $4500 in free money to give you, but

Ok...I'm getting it now. So if the best they can do from a scrapyard for my car is say...$500. Then I can get the $4500 voucher, plus the $500 scrap

I'd wager that value is lessened by the tranny blowing up. -- nm

Well...it's under warranty and is in the shop right now having the tranny looked at and hopefully fixed/replaced.
