Is he making a "content" vs. "art" argument, where - if something is produced for a mass market, then it can't be art? I'd argue that the two aren't mutually exclusive, in which case, yeah, stop making shitty movies. You can make something that is appealing to the masses and is "art", too.
I suppose his saying that in the rush to bulk up libraries, we're allowing shit to happen. But I'd argue that there's still an equal number of "art" movies being made today as there were in the past. They're just being vastly out-numbered by poor quality content.
