Flying would be safer than remaining, especially if you have an N95 mask or can double-mask.

Remember that the end to the icy hellscape is only the beginning. It will still take days to revive the power grid, and it will be weeks and months before all the damage is repaired.
If you can find a warmer place to get to for a week or two, and still connect to the Internet, it's probably a good idea to do so. You'll at least be in a better frame of mind.
Besides, David could always use an assistant writer, right? :-) :-)
Or fly up here to Portland. I'll put you up and drive you around for some job prospecting opportunities if you want.
