not a big deal on its own, but they also arranged a trip to the city for 'meetings'. took a company car, stayed in a hotel, etc. site is in west Africa, so for security reasons expat employees aren't allowed to go out on the town, and they were spotted at multiple bars/nightclubs/restaurants by some of the in-country employees. looks like they're both getting fired. not for the affair, for having the company finance it and breaking all the security rules.

M is irritated, because her subordinate is amazing, and will be impossible to replace. she wanted written warning, but seems the site manager was adamant about axing the geologist, and they couldn't get rid of one and not the other.
