One of things I saw this weekend that I can't unsee is the Season 1 Muppets Show opening. The Muppets on the edge of the cake tiers are barely moving. -- (edited)

Like not even Small World moving.
Actually I thought for like Ep 3-4 when I figured out that the showgirls at the edge were different, I thought they weren't moving at all. But what is actually happening is the really creepy raising of the outside arm that's not smooth and just not right.
The other thing is that I swear that Jim Henson is in the first episode. Beyond the obvious, there's a skit with a band and the lead is Muppet who looks like Jim Henson or at least the mental image I have of Jim Henson.
I also think that I actually watched this show primarily first run and given the broadcast years of 1976-1981 that's entirely possible. That would explain why I don't remember the earliest episodes. So perhaps my parents were late adopters and they weren't eagerly awaiting the debut episode.
The Disney+ episode sequence seems to have differences from the episode listings I've found on line such as I think watched Ben Vereen, Charles Aznavour, and then Vincent Price. Twiggy will be the next episode up. I remember the Vincent Price episode which seems to be the last episode of the season which would go along with the idea that I eventually started watching Season 1 of the show.
